BAAS is an architecture and design studio set up by JORDI BADIA in 1994, made up of professionals from different fields, to develop architectural, urban planning and interior design projects. The office is complemented by a network of external collaborators who work on aspects such as structural calculation, installations, quantity surveying and landscape architecture.
The practices habitual fields of work are projects for public administrations and private clients, in similar proportions. Outstanding projects include the funeral services in Leon (AR+D Prize) and Terrassa, CH House in La Garriga (FAD Opinion Prize), the IBERCON corporate building in Palma de Mallorca, the law courts in Sant Boi (Catalunya Construcció Prize), Ferrer i Guàrdia School in Granollers (FAD finalist, NORMABLOC third prize and awarded with the IV Vallès Biennale of architecture prize), and Can Framis Museum for the Vila Casas Foundation in Barcelona (BEAUXI finalist, awarded with the Ciutat de Barcelona prize, FAD Opinion Prize, finalist of the 6º European Landscape prize Rosa Barba).
The studio has recently completed two social housing; two health centres in Salt and Badalona; Els Gorgs secondary school in Cerdanyola, Sant Josep School in Sant Vicenç dels Horts, La Bóbila School in Cambrils and SS house in Mallorca.
The practice is currently working on various projects, including several apartment buildings in Barcelona and Majorica and facilities and institutional buildings such as the town hall in Montroig del Camp, the headquarters of the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre or the new premises of The MUHBA (Museum of History of Barcelona) in Poblenou district, Barcelona. The office is also working on the citizens building in Palamós, the extensive rehabilitation of Alta Diagonal office building in Barcelona and the Silesia Universitys Radio and TV department in Katowice, Poland.
BAAS has won various awards for its buildings (FAD awards, Ciudat de Barcelona Prize 2009
) and It has been featured in numerous specialist publications (Architectural Review, El Croquis, A+U, Casabella, etc.). It has also been invited to present its work at conferences around the world ((Paris, Toulouse, Ljubljana, Hong Kong, Krakow, Budapest, Lisbon, Zagreb..).
In September 2007, BAAS was awarded the ISO 9001 quality management standard.
