Black River Design has been helping clients across Vermont fulfill their missions through efficient and effective planning and design for over 45 years.  Our experience includes state-of-the-art research laboratories, adaptive reuse of historic buildings for administrative offices, dormitories, commercial buildings, hotels, K-12 schools, and master plans.  BRD is known for creating spaces that encourage a sense of community.  On a small scale, we look for opportunities to design spaces that encourage both planned and unplanned interaction between users.  On a larger scale, we strive to build consensus around creative and cost effective solutions that will serve owners and communities for generations to come.   As leaders in sustainable design since the 1980's, BRD looks to maximize energy efficiency opportunities within the available budget and feels a responsibility to find the right balance between initial cost and the long term sustainability of our planet.   We believe that the end result is greater when everyone is working together towards a common goal.
