Giulietti / Schouten AIA Architects P.C. is a seven-person firm with a diverse range of project types constructed throughout Oregon and the NW Region. David formed the company in 1987 after working for BOOR/A Architects in Portland for six years. Following graduation from The City College of New York, David worked for a leading N.Y.C. firm specializing in low and moderate income housing prior to his arrival in Portland in 1981. Tim Schouten joined the firm in 1993 after working for SERA Architects for four years. Prior to joining Sera, Tim worked for CYP Inc, Architecture and Planning in California. Tim became a principal in 2000. The diversity of style in their small-scale projects has often been described as a strong point by clients because it has shown their ability to listen to the client’s goals and needs. Maintaining a small firm has allowed the principals to maintain a close relationship with team members as well as allowing all team members to maintain a close relationship with all aspects of the projects. The firm attempts to expand the design horizons of their clients as well as providing a personal touch to the services that they provide. We believe that the success of each project is dependent on a strong communication between the architect and client, especially during the initial programming phase. While being best known for their residential and specialized housing projects they continue to be called upon to design a variety of building types and have worked theaters, schools, religious and church facilities, restaurants/retail and offices.
The present firm is a synthesis of special abilities of the principals, David Giulietti, Tim Schouten and Jake Weber along with staff members Anthony Hasenberg, Andrew Striker, Chris Dara and ben Stickney.
David Giulietti is the President of the firm. He graduated from CCNY in 1979 and began his internship with Rothzeid, Kaiserman and Thomson in New York City prior to coming out to Oregon in 1981. He formed his firm in 1987 after leaving BOOR/A. Following a year of providing consulting to various firms in the Portland area, David began developing his own clientele while his firm took shape and began to grow.
