President of Heath Design Group
As President of Heath Design Group, Mike McGowan oversees and participates in all facets of the firm's day-to-day operations and financial decisions. This allows the architects and designers to focus on delivering creative and responsible design solutions and the highest level of client satisfaction. Mike received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University. His extensive background in the financial and commercial real estate industries has helped successfully build Heath Design Group’s presence and portfolio in the Mid-Atlantic region. Mike currently serves on the board of the Downtown Management Authority and the Downtown Partnership Foundation as well as being a member of the Cornell University Council. Mike is past President of the Historic Charles Street Association, formerly Treasure and Past President of the Cornell Club of Maryland, and formerly served on the board of the Charles Street Development Corporation.

BRIAN D. LAUG, AIA, NCARB
A graduate of The University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Architecture, Brian Laug serves as the Managing and Design Principal of Heath Design Group. Brian’s responsiveness, integrity and commitment to principal involvement have greatly shaped the firm’s culture for over 20 years. Brian’s portfolio encompasses a broad spectrum, including corporate office, healthcare, retail and industrial projects. Whether designing a new building or planning office space, Brian’s creative ability provides clients with functional solutions that are key in the design process. Brian’s dedication to quality client-oriented architecture has contributed largely to the success of Heath Design Group.
Director of Interior Design
Chung Gobell has dedicated her invaluable energy and charismatic leadership to Heath Design Group since she began work in 1996. Chung developed her passion for the interior design and architecture industry while studying and receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her strong project management skills have been instrumental to the success of multiple senior and multi-family housing projects including The Verde at Greenbelt Station, the Hopkins House at John Hopkins University, and Mercy Ridge Retirement Community, as well as, numerous corporate interiors including Orbital, ATK and Brown Capital Management. Chung is a catalyst for inspiring innovative ideas and is driven to far exceed her clients’ expectations.
