I-Beam Design, led by Suzan Wines and Azin Valy, is an award winning New York based Architecture and Design firm. I-Beam’s key personnel have a broad range of design and construction experience in cultural, commercial, and residential projects. The firm’s innovative designs have been featured in numerous national and international publications including The New York Times, New York Magazine, Vogue, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture Magazine, and Domus among many others. I-Beam's work has been exhibited at the Milan Triennale, the Venice Biennale, as well as Prince Charles' Royal Gardens.
I-Beam Design has won a number of awards including first place in the international competition for Lt. Petrosino Park in New York, and for their much-publicized Pallet House, a sustainable humanitarian shelter for disaster-stricken areas around the world.
Every project at I-Beam receives the personal attention of Ms. Wines and Ms. Valy; each partner stays actively involved in all phases of design providing a highly sensitive yet pragmatic approach to the needs of their clients. Ms. Wines and Ms. Valy both attended The Cooper Union School of Architecture and have been collaborators for nearly two decades. Suzan Wines has been an Associate Professor of Architectural Design at The Cooper Union and the NY correspondent for Domus Magazine for many years. She is currently adjunct Associate Professor of Architecture at the Spitzer School of Architecture at City College of NY and visiting Associate Professor at Pratt Institute. Ms. Valy frequently serves as guest critic at Parsons, Pratt, Columbia and City College.
I-Beam is currently certified as a WBE, a Woman Owned Business Enterprise in both NY State and NY City.
