Duncan is a badass woodworker with a serious side of sass. She approaches her work with an uncompromising respect for the craft and a solid no-holds-barred attitude. Seams and joints are created by hand, utilizing the traditional principles of joinery and are executed with meticulous precision honed through years of experience.Form and function meet the woodshop floor and are examined throughout production. Duncan develops concepts sketching by hand, not on a computer screen, and pieces come to fruition organically as parts are constructed and pieces are assembled. Duncan’s work is clean and contemporary, heavily influenced by Japanese aesthetic, with a nod to mid-century modern designers.Materials and hardware are examined for integrity and only the finest will do. Solid North American hardwoods, Horween leather hides and Brusso hinges are among the finest available and are proudly used in Kate’s work. Duncan never cuts corners and takes great pride in knowing that her work will last for generations to come.
