LA.M Studio - Léonie Alma Mason

LA.M Studio is Léonie Alma Mason. She creates spaces for living, working, escaping; interiors in tune with the times, sharp and sophisticated. Launched in 2014 in Paris, her interior architecture firm is fueled by her singular vision, based on travel and the arts, as well as dialogues with her close collaborators: private project managers as well as entrepreneurs, artists and artisans.

Born in Geneva, she studied in Germany and in France, at the École Camondo. Growing up in a family that was attuned to contemporary art and tribal art, she views architecture as a vibrant, intelligible tool. She immerses herself in architectural contexts that feature raw materials and draws inspiration from the neo-modern, rigorous work of architects and artists like Christo, Andrée Putman, Robert Mallet-Stevens, Sophie Ristelhueber and William Forsythe.

The direction she takes is defined by the codes of a space—the era of the structure, a decorative detail. Natural light and its interaction with stained oak, smooth linen, lava stone and reflective metal add lightness and energy to the lines and anchors the identity of each of her projects. In each one, she implements an open-minded, custom-designed approach, selecting design collectibles and art objects.

Deeply influenced by the arts in her personal life, from photography to contemporary dance, she regularly invites the artists she admires and collects to work with her on site. In Paris, the monumental steel staircase she designed for the headquarters of the real-estate development company Theop is surrounded by a massive mural by visual artist Abdelkader Benchamma.

She currently renovates a brutalist office building in the heart of Brussels’ Belle Époque area, remodels a vacation spot in the Dodecanese Islands, abroad in Greece and the Maslina hotel In Croatia.
