Founded in 1993, LOOK Architects is a design-intensive practice committed to rigorous analysis and research to produce innovative, iconic buildings and urban design.
Founders Look Boon Gee and Ng Sor Hiang foster a collaborative studio environment to germinate and develop design ideas on a broad spectrum of works in the Southeast Asian region, defining LOOK Architects as a practice keen on breaking new ground in various fields of design. Recipient of The President's Design Award – Designer of the Year 2009, Look Boon Gee's passion for his craft continues to lead the practice towards exciting directions.
Versatility in handling projects of vastly different natures is evident in completed works, an array that includes private residences, apartment tower, university institution, community library, commercial headquarters, waterfront promenade and bridges. Embracing a design philosophy of the integrated whole, a high degree of inventiveness goes into construction detailing, ecological use of building material and planning of spatial relationships in relation to the environment.
Clients' personal and collective experiences are creatively interpreted to form perspectives that enrich the design approach of each project, and together with sustainable responses to the distinctive character of place, design enters the realm of eco-poetry, a lively dialogue that reverberates between nature and aspirations of man.
