We are housemakers creating distinct, beautifully crafted architecture in the town, the countryside, in the UK and overseas. We love what we do, delighting in the detail, the use of light and materials, the sensory, the tactile, and the making of spaces that age with grace.
Our work is innovative, sustainable and responsible, employing the principles of Passivhaus, low-carbon materials and renewable technologies.
We are driven by working together and with you. For us, the process is a dialogue. We listen, earn trust and foster friendships, mindful that creating a home is a journey, an important life experience. Understanding the way you live and what you enjoy informs our thinking and enables us to design a home that is truly yours.
A family practice, McLean Quinlan was founded in London in 1980 by Fiona McLean. Over the next two decades, we worked with clients and consultants, designing buildings and houses that still inform our work today. From 2006, Fiona’s daughter Kate Quinlan, and her partner Alastair Bowden, began to expand the practice and opened a second studio in Winchester in 2011. Today, we are a highly collaborative team of architects and designers, supported by an experienced network of professionals and craftspeople.
As architects, we are rigorous and determined throughout every stage of each project. We have vast experience, a proven track record, and our award-winning architecture speaks for itself. Each of our buildings has a sense of belonging. Each one is a place to call home.
