SLIDE was founded in 2002 by Giuseppe Colonna Romano, inspired by his thirty years of experience in manufacturing plastic resins, initially applied to the sectors of housewares and subsequently in the gardening one. The SLIDE collection comprises innovative furniture characterized by an exceptional use of light, ideal for indoor and outdoor settings, with a clean and ironic design. With registered headquarters and production premises in Buccinasco, on the outskirts of Milan in Italy, SLIDE was the very first design company to produce luminous furniture, elements that became a key to success, soon exported worldwide. Thanks to the Made in SLIDE philosophy, with the recent introduction of rigid and soft polyurethane production and with the acquisition and extension of the Design of Love Collection, the company has reached new markets. SLIDE was then completed in time with rental activities and organization of events with SLIDE EVENTS and with the project of contemporary art SLIDEart. PRODUCTS The SLIDE production includes different types of elements: seats, tables, lamps, counter bars, pots and furnishing complements. The products from the SLIDE collection, are characterized by their originality, high quality materials and versatility that makes them ideal for indoors, outdoors, contract and events. The essential production processes chosen for SLIDE’s expansion, are the traditional production technique of rotational moulding for polyethylene, and the implementation of the injection moulding for the production of rigid and soft polyurethane. Thanks to the latest innovation introduced, SLIDE expanded its collection with products for indoor use with complex, soft and refined shapes and for outdoor use equipped with more comfort and personalization by the addition of polyurethane cushions. DESIGNER SLIDE partners with internationally acclaimed designers such as Marc Sadler, Karim Rashid, Marcel Wanders, Paola Navone, Alessandro Mendini, Stefano Giovannoni and Marco Acerbis, striving to create quality products, and conquering a position in the medium to top segment of the market. These high-profile partnerships are complemented by a constant investment on talented young designers, very rich in potential although at times little known. MADE IN SLIDE The Made in SLIDE philosophy is a fundamental success factor that allowed the company to constantly remain a leader in its market. The principle is to integrate all the phases leading to the realization of the products in-house, from engineering, to molding, to finishing, to lacquering and the final assembly. With this guideline, SLIDE is able to obtain products although made of plastic, however, with striking finishes and colours, resistant to atmospheric agents, remarkable not only aesthetically but also to the touch, with cutting-edge lighting systems. DISTRIBUTION AND ONLINE SALES SLIDE operates through a global team of independent agents and distributors, with the aim of reaching a more widespread presence throughout the world. Additionally, SLIDE works in conjunction with a consolidated network of partner companies in the events and contract sector. Important results are shown in corporate events, where the SLIDE product lends itself to ensure global corporate identity. The sales strategy does not provide for flagship stores but a presence in multi-brand stores, and also very important are the B2B, and the online presence. The variety of products and the presence in different market channels, has allowed the brand to establish itself internationally: 85% of turnover comes from exports in over 130 countries worldwide. SUSTAINABILITY SLIDE pays great attention to sustainability issues, integrating these responsibilities in the production process as well. Firstly, the SLIDE products are realized in linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) that is 100% recyclable. In order to avoid material wastage, the realization of grey, black and chocolate coloured products, are made using polyethylene recovered from processing scraps. Moreover, the introduction of the lacquering technique, transforms the declassed material in a valuable and luxurious product. Finally, the luminous collection is available with RGB LED technology that enables maximum energy savings, with a rechargeable battery. In terms of corporate social responsibility, in the past years SLIDE supported the promotion and support of several charity and environmental projects. In 2014, it became the main economic supporter of the Association M.A.T. – Milano Altri Talenti that works to promote activities of companies that represent the productive excellence of Lombardy and of prominent representatives in the fields of design, photography and fashion. SLIDE EVENTS In 2007 SLIDE expanded its brand activities by creating SLIDE EVENTS, a services branch specialised in the integrated management of private and corporate events. Thanks to the flexibility of the SLIDE collection, SLIDE EVENTS is able to create and manage events in all their aspects, thus guaranteeing an all-inclusive service that encompasses consultancy, concept ideation, location scouting and 3D visuals, beside, of course, rental, delivery and assembly of the products. SLIDEart Where art, design and fashion meet, SLIDEart is established in 2011: an art editor that is brand new for concept and placement, born in the industrial context and developed in the artistic world. The project was launched with the exhibition “Sign Off Design” at the 54° Biennale d’Arte in Venice and now includes works of artists such as Alessandro Mendini, Sacha Sosno, Jean Claude Farhi, Giuseppe Spagnulo, Javier Mariscal and Karim Rashid.
