Studio Bark is a London based pioneering architectural practice that delivers inspiring, yet cost conscious environmental architecture with a hands on approach to research, design and fabrication.
Founded by Wilf Meynell in 2014, Studio Bark designs and builds innovative buildings and installations where poetics of space merge with carefully selected material palettes and considered technical details. Our rigorous environmental ethos and ambitious design approach first came into the public eye when our Code 6 private home Periscope House was featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs. Since then, Studio Bark has quickly become one of the leading studios in gaining planning permission for a number of Paragraph 55 homes. Whist continuing to work on a variety of bespoke homes, we have also branched out into workplace, hospitality, leisure and placemaking projects.
As a collaborative studio, we work very closely with our clients; carefully engaging them through the various stages of each project and promoting an exciting yet transparent journey from conception to completion. We believe that every project has an inherent and often personal narrative, and hence offer flexibility within a full range of environmental and architectural services. The architecture that we craft responds sensitively to our client’s aspirations, site-context and budget. We have a successful track record in securing planning permission for ambitious designs on challenging urban, suburban and rural sites across the UK.
We also provide specialist construction and fabrication services, reducing the lengthy tender process and ensuring that our buildings reflect the highest level of craftsmanship and finish. We frequently collaborate with University of East London; working alongside students to deliver ambitious projects, while enhancing their formal professional education.
