Atelier Stéphane Fernandez
Atelier Stéphane Fernandez
Minimalist in its expressions and maximalist by the extreme value given to each detail, the Stéphane Fernandez
«silent architecture» invests the landscape as much as it takes shape, installing the man in the density of space and time. The architect keep the memory of a particular sensitivity to the dance, perceived as a possibility to seize the space, to define the void. He models rough, thick and fragile monoliths by digging, by the movement of the bodies, generating tensions between the masses. Its architecture builds beyond form, by an atmosphere, an inhabited void.
«I live in the landscape» likes to say Stéphane Fernandez, whose architectures offer multiple thresholds of perception. In France, his approach has been rewarded by the most prestigious distinctions.
Trained at ENSA Marseille and EPFL Lausanne (Inès Lamunière, Jacques Lucan, Patrick Berger), the architect Stéphane Fernandez (born in 1974) articulates his work around a permanent search for the material, by the accumulation of models, sketches, plans and words. He worked with Yves Lion and Marc Barani before founding the Atelier Stéphane Fernandez. He has a dual career as architect and teacher-researcher in the Department La Fabrique (ENSA Marseille).
