Interface is a global leader in the design and production of modular flooring. Its products combine beauty and innovation with functionality and environmental credentials to help customers bring their design vision to life. The company was one of the first to publicly commit to sustainability, when it made a pledge in the mid-nineties to eliminate its impact on the environment by 2020. Known as Mission Zero®, it influences every aspect of the business and inspires the company to continually push the boundaries in order to achieve its goal.
Design
The modular carpet tiles of Interface give the opportunity to mix and match colours, patterns and textures, to work with unusual shapes, and to complement furniture, fittings and other elements of the zone. The Interface design aesthetic is anything but basic. The company keeps a constant eye in the worlds (literally) of art, fashion, media, technology, travel, and education—so many things—to make sure every Interface product is informed and relevant.
The objective is to help customers create ideal spaces and realise their design visions. The results are choices as exciting and variable as the many global showrooms where you will find them.
Redesigning for reducing environmental impact
Interface was the first company in the industry to develop a product with 100% recycled nylon yarn, when it introduced Biosfera I in 2011 – now one of its best selling collections ever. Featuring products with half the carbon footprint of a typical carpet tile, recycled materials in the backing and a minimal amount of yarn, Biosfera I is one of the many examples Interface redesigning its products to reduce their largest environmental impact – the extraction and use of raw materials. More than 450 colours and 20 styles across the company’s diverse product range are now available with 100% recycled yarn for a greatly reduced environmental impact.
