The Room Acoustics panel system by Bruag offers a comprehensive solution that improves both sound quality and visual appeal, transforming a functional necessity into a design statement. It goes beyond mere aesthetics, actively tackling acoustics for an all-inclusive experience.

Ceilings and walls are significant surfaces when it comes to improving acoustics, producing positive auditory and visual outcomes. The acoustic results of BRUAG products are proven by the German TÜV Institute, which verified the outstanding absorption rates.

Materials
There are three options for material choice:

MDF board:
The MDF board is a wood-based material made of finely fibrillated softwood, which is pressed into a board product that is equally homogeneous in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
-Dense, stable wood panel for interiors.
-Ideal for painting and offers a smooth, natural look.
-Thickness: 10mm, 19mm, 30mm.
-Applications: Interiors such as ceiling, wall cladding, and stair railings.

Oak plywood:
This panel consists of individual layers of wood, which are glued and pressed crosswise to their fiber direction. This reduces directional properties such as swelling and shrinkage.
-Cross-laminated wood with a natural oak finish.
-Scratch-resistant coating and black laser-cut edges enhance depth.
-Thickness: 18mm.
-Applications: Suitable for interior walls and ceilings.

CELLON® panel
The CELLON® panel is a high-pressure laminate panel (HPL compact or solid core panel) consisting of 70% cellulose webs and 30% phenolic resin.
High-pressure laminate for outdoor use.
-Weatherproof, moisture-resistant, and available in various colors.
-Thickness: 8mm, 10mm.
-Applications: Mounted vertically in outdoor areas (e.g. facades, balcony railings)

Customization
The raw panels are cut to the project-specific dimensions using laser technology (including drill holes). For customized laser cutting, one can specify panel dimensions (width x length) and any desired cut-outs or drill holes.

Colors
Free color customization with a selection of over 3,000 colors is available. Special colors with a metallic effect are also available. BRUAG also offers natural oak plywood as a surface option. These panels come with a complementary felt for the perforated opening. With a selection of 44 felt colors, a perfectly coordinated visual can be achieved.

Design
The flexibility of laser cutting allows the perforation to be fully aligned and optimized to the requirements of the application. Thus, designs can be specifically adapted for maximum sound absorption. Care is taken to ensure that there is as much open space as possible to enhance sound absorption.

Construction solutions
The proportion of open space influences the sound-absorbing effect of wall and ceiling elements. The Bruag design collections contain numerous variants with an open area proportion of 40% and more. As with the partition walls, we also differentiate between fixed and flexible systems for acoustic elements:

Fixed room acoustic systems:
Wall acoustic system:
For better results, combine the MDF, OAK PLYWOOD, or CELLON® design panels covered with felt on the back with a sound absorber and an air space behind it. The panel is attached to a wooden or metal substructure.

Ceiling acoustic system:
The structure of ceiling elements does not differ from that of wall structures. Due to the risk of deflection, attention must be paid to the fastening distances. Ceiling acoustic systems can either be designed over the entire surface or as individual sails.

Portable acoustic systems:

Noise-Catcher:
The Noise-Catcher is 1900mm x 1900mm x 14mm in size and is the ideal partition for your open-plan office or as a partition within rooms. It stands independently and can be easily moved if necessary.

Noise-Virus-Catcher® (NVC):
The Noise-Virus-Catcher® makes rooms virus- and germ-free. The flexible partition wall system with medical filters eliminates viruses close to people, i.e. exactly where they are exhaled into the air. At the same time, the attractive room divider provides perfect room acoustics and aesthetic added value. The Noise-Virus-Catcher® has the dimensions 1900mm x 1900mm x 14mm.

Cutting and drilling guidelines

To ensure an efficient finish, BRUAG recommends pre-ordering panels cut to your project's exact dimensions whenever possible. On-site cutting exposes uncoated core material, compromising the aesthetics. If unavoidable, carbide or diamond-tipped tools can be used, and prioritize cutting the coated face with a guide rail for a clean line. Drilling should be done with solid carbide spiral or dowel bits. The panels are inherently weatherproof, but exposed edges can be touched up with supplied reserve paint.

Beyond pre-cut panels and included acoustic components, BRUAG offers additional solutions for enhanced room acoustics. Perforated panels with acoustic fleece can be installed across walls or ceilings, and these systems can even integrate LED lighting or cooling functionalities.

Reference projects
Convention Centre Koblenz

At the Convention Center Koblenz in Germany Bruag panels are used in large meeting spaces. They are integrated with an underlying acoustic structure uplifting the space's visuals and functionality. These panels boast a 58% open space ratio within a 4 x 1-meter format, achieved through continuous perforation without compromising stability. Additionally, a strategically placed heavy curtain behind the panels provides further flexibility, enabling adjustments based on the specific event taking place within the hall.

Medical Center Karlihof Malans

Bruag Design Factory AG's innovative panels played a key role in the Medical Center Karlihof Malans. The architecture studio Ritter Schumacher AG envisioned a facade reflecting the center's purpose. Bruag's laser cutting brought this vision to life. Weatherproof CELLON® exterior panels displayed unique perforations inspired by muscle cells, offering sun protection and a symbolic link to medicine. Functionality wasn't sacrificed for aesthetics. The perforations, along with LED backlighting, created a captivating well-lit exterior.

Weatherproof CELLON® has been used on the outside and was combined with MDF panels in the interior areas. They were strategically paired with acoustic textiles and absorbers, ensuring a comfortable and sound-controlled environment.

Dani Felber, Jazz Cellar Ermatingen

Dani Felber, a world-renowned jazz musician, sought to create an exceptional listening experience in his private jazz cellar. This intimate venue, envisioned for hosting both personal performances and renowned guest artists, demanded superior acoustics that balanced clarity with a warm, inviting atmosphere. Bruag provided a custom-designed acoustic solution utilizing its innovative acoustic panels. The panels were strategically placed throughout the space to optimize sound absorption and diffusion, minimizing unwanted echo and reverberation. This ensured clear and accurate sound reproduction for both musicians and audience members.
