Two Worn Out Single–Family Homes Make Place For A New Entrance/Garage An Extra Lving Space, A Welness And 5 Apartments The owner who lives in a historical building behind this project asked 3 different architects to come up with a concept for designing a new entrance + parking space, an outdoor livings space, and a welness on a plot where at that moment 2 worn out single family houses were located. Above this extra additions to his house several apartments had to be built to finance the project.
The question was to come up with a concept to give the apartments the necessary daylight, but still keep the privacy of the gardenspace between the new and the old building.
We proposed boxes that pop out of the back of the new building. These boxes have side windows that give side views and provide light in the bedrooms of the new apartments, but also maintain the privacy of the garden space.
In between these boxes inox mirrors were placed that provide extra light in the bedrooms, but also give a reflection of the old historical building in the back façade of the new building.
In the basement of the new building a welness is situated. The wellnes is linked to the outside living space through a pond with a waterfall.
