FF MFT Apartment

João Tiago Aguiar, arquitectos als Architekten

The renovation of this apartment in Avenidas Novas aimed to create a modern and functional living space, with a strong emphasis on optimizing the flow of space, maximizing natural light, and integrating smart storage solutions. The original layout, which included four bedrooms and four bathrooms, underwent a transformation into a more streamlined design featuring two bedrooms plus an ensuite bedroom with a spacious walk-in closet.

One of the notable design features is the folding bookshelf that faces the living room, serving as a central element. By separating the living room from the entrance hall, the bookshelf creates a visual connection while maintaining privacy, enhancing the flow and circulation between these areas.

To increase the overall flow and ambiance, carefully designed lightboxes were integrated into the false ceilings, matching the design of the bookshelf. These lightboxes provide a cohesive and harmonious illumination throughout the space, further improving the seamless circulation between rooms.

Behind the walls of the bookshelf lies the entrance hall, which serves as a seamless transition between spaces. The strategic placement of the bookshelf, along with the integrated lightboxes, enhances both the aesthetics and functionality of the living room while preserving the integrity and smooth circulation of the entrance hall.

In addition to the bookshelf, thoughtful design elements such as pocket doors and strategically placed large windows were incorporated to optimize space and maximize the influx of natural light. The use of high-quality materials, including marble stone, wood, and glass, adds an elegant touch to the interior design, contributing to the overall flow and cohesiveness of the space.

The renovation successfully transformed this apartment from the 60’s into a modern and functional living space, where the illuminated bookshelf facing the living room, accompanied by the lightboxes of different sizes in the false ceilings, becomes a captivating center piece. The seamless flow and circulation, along with the integration of smart storage solutions and the inclusion of a spacious walk-in closet, enhance the overall aesthetic appeal, functionality, and organization of the space.
