This is a plan for an office and workshop in a quiet residential area.
We aimed to create a space that would serve as an intermediary for a variety of activities for the community and the company. First, the existing shutters were considered as a device to dynamically manipulate open and closed situations, and a flexible façade was planned for the street.
In terms of zoning, the minimum space required by the client was divided into an office space and the rest was divided into a work space, leaving a lot of blank space on the work space side to accommodate various activities. The work space side was left with a lot of blank space to accommodate various activities. For materials, symbolic materials such as plywood, carpet tiles, and chrome plating were selected for the work space and the office, and integrated into one space.
In order to match the overall look of the interior with the existing building, the rust-proof color of the existing steel frame was also used for a portion of the interior. The office desk was designed as a prototype that can be used in a variety of situations, with attention paid to general convenience, such as the leg structure, easy access to electrical outlets, and the use of smoked glass on the top panel to reduce clutter underfoot.
