Presenting winners of the 2024 AZ Awards
Die 14. Ausgabe der jährlichen AZURE Awards würdigt die Leistungen in Architektur und Design weltweit und gab kürzlich die Gewinner für 2024 bekannt.
AZURE, ein preisgekröntes Magazin mit Schwerpunkt auf zeitgenössischer Architektur und Design, erhielt Beiträge aus 42 Ländern. Eine hochkarätige internationale 10-köpfige Jury wählte 69 Finalisten aus verschiedenen Disziplinen aus, von Architektur, Stadtplanung und Landschaft bis hin zu Beleuchtung, Möbeln und Inneneinrichtung. Die Jurymitglieder waren: Piero Lissoni, Tosin Oshinowo, Evan Jerry, Jennifer Keesmaat, Wanda Dalla Costa, Hector Esrawé, Julie Bargmann, Shirley Blumberg, Sidhartha Talwar und Alex Holloway.

RIBA announces 54 winners of the 2021 National Award
The award started in 1966 and has since recognized the UK’s best new buildings. The Royal Institute of British Architects provides an insight into the prevailing theme’s from this year’s award winning projects.
The Institute notices sensitive restorations and adaptations like a 45-year-old furniture factory in Bath re-energised for art students and a major reconfiguration to transform the user experience of the MK Gallery. Investment in arts and culture is prevalent in the Aberdeen Art Gallery’s major redevelopment and a new facility for the English National Ballet. Leopardo
Leopardo’s Chicago office is a welcoming space that reflects this leading construction company’s craft, culture and dedication to excellence. Drawing inspiration from the materials Leopardo employees handle every day, new design elements highlight the early stages of a construction project. This work, which is not always visible in finished spaces, is brought to the forefront of the new environment, reminding employees to take pride in the process. Mehr

Vancouver House
Vancouver House is located at the main entrance to Vancouver, exactly where the Granville bridge triforks when it reaches downtown. The resulting triangular slices of land had previously been undeveloped. When engaged by Westbank to design a residential high-rise for the highly complex site, BIG started by mapping the constraints – setbacks from the streets, a 30-meter setback from the bridge, and a neighboring park had to be protected from shadows. After all the constraints, what was left was a small triangular site nearly too small to build upon.

Mill Lane, Leicester
Mill Lane is an area around De Montfort University in Leicester that was redeveloped from a vehicular street to a pedestrianised zone with planting and new street lighting. The contractor Danaher and Walsh who carried out the work commissioned me to photograph it for their website, brochures and award submissions. Since shooting, this project has won three awards, ProCon Leicester, a Leicestershire Joint Consultative Committee Craftsmanship Award and an RICS Infrastructure project award.The objective of the development was to create a relaxing environment around De Montfort University's city centre campus and their new Vijay Patel building.
