Taking cues from the neighboring classical Carolands Chateau, this home for six maximizes a flat site by lifting the quiet programs off the ground to float above the activity. Service spaces are captured amongst a masonry plinth, nodding to the neighboring Chateau’s organization and rusticated base.

These masses organize the primary public spaces into a double high core that connects seamlessly to the exterior. When doors retract, the wood clad volume above becomes a canopy for indoor/outdoor living.

LAKE TAHOE | CABIN(S)
The Lake Tahoe Cabins is comprised of three discrete structures that traverse the rugged and complex Crystal Bay shoreline. Each cabin is strategically arranged around the site’s elemental intricacies with distinct connections to the Tahoe landscape and lakefront below.

The individual structures are linked by a glazed bridge whose footprint kinks precisely around a mass of prehistoric Sierra granite. The unique arrangement of cabins creates recreational alcoves before approaching the lake.

POAL Car Handling Facility doubles as a blank canvas for local and international artists
In Auckland, New Zealand, the POAL Car Handling Facility is a functional piece of architecture designed to maximize port operations efficiency while engaging with the public as a canvas for large-scale contemporary art display. Designed by Plus Architecture, the recently opened building is set to become a home for large scale installations in the years to come.

The Port of Auckland forms the backbone of freight logistics and transport for most of New Zealand’s Upper Island. This 35,000 square meter, 5-storey project greatly improves car capacity and movement at the port, reducing the amount of space taken up by imported vehicles on the harbour by stacking vehicles vertically.
