The project was designed by David Guerra Architecture and Interior in a condominium next to Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, for a couple with one son. The total construction area of the house is 500m² and the site area 22.000 m². Jomar Bragança The house over the native forest combines the nature with the contemporary vision. XUL Architecture aus dem Norden Londons hat dieses Einfamilienhaus in Highgate renoviert, um eine bessere Zirkulation und Beleuchtung zu ermöglichen. Existing HouseLocated on a sunny hillside at the edge of Griffith Park, the existing house did not take advantage of the natural conditions of its site. Connections to the outdoors were inadequate. With main living areas located on the second floor, access to the outside was limited. The only usable outdoor space was located on the first floor and accessed only through an office space. Views from inside the house were restricted by the size and location of the windows. With lack of insulation, disregard for the building orientation and natural ventilation, the house was hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Our client came to us with great excitement to bring this home back to life with a venerable attitude to its history. The neighborhood of Greenpoint is an evolving pocket of Brooklyn that is growing more diverse with each passing season. A third-generation Polish meat market can be found adjacent to a sleek, minimalist craft beer bar filled with young locals. It is truly the perfect setting for this project as our collective goal was to create a modern, comfortable home that embraced and even highlighted its past lives. The design intent was to create a space that embodies the “pura vida” way of life and captures the essence of the company. The importance of light, color and use of greenery were key elements in delivering a space that felt fresh and organic. The open floor plan with floor to ceiling glass, allows for an abundance of natural light to filter throughout the space and showcases the 180 degree ocean views only a few blocks away.   Everything is visible to everyone, from the reclaimed wood conference table and custom bronze chandelier to the ping pong table at the opposite end of the suite. My clients had originally hired me to design their contemporary dream home on a beautiful West Park lot on the Hudson River. We were well underway on the design when the opportunity arose for them to purchase a second lot—the property directly above their current one.  This new lot contained the foundation of a spec house, which was situated to look directly down onto my clients’ new home. Located near the Sun Valley ski area, the Limelight Ketchum Hotel embodies the heritage of its surroundings to create an approachable destination for travelers and the local community. Inspired by Ketchum’s motto, “Small town, big life!,” and taking cues from the area’s laid-back vibe, a modern interior program was intended to nurture body and soul.The overall design theme is the establishment of the hotel as a community “base camp” in which guests can start and end each day. Challeges: This family chalet was due for an evolution of sorts – one that would honour their many years there, but also look toward the future. Recognizing that the property had spectacular views that weren’t being maximized, ASQUITH focused much of their energy on the removal of walls, doubling the size of windows, increasing air circulation and designing an expansive deck that took full advantage of the breathtaking vista.   What materials did you choose and why?
