The best lighting is the one we do not notice as it is so well adapted to its function, which is to ensure comfort in our occupations, giving beings and things the best aspect for the purpose we offer them.
Jean Dourgnon, lighting theorist
In January 2018, DCW éditions launch the first " reissue* " of Jacques Biny (1913-1976) light collection at Maison & Objet fair.
Jacques Biny, throughout his career, has designed more than 400 lights through his company Luminalite.
DCW Editions chose to publish the first 5 models from 1956-1958.
Ever breaking away from the surrounding world, they reflect the efficiency, simplicity and the elegance of sobriety.
The table lamp (Biny Table n°231) by Jacques BINY is almost an alien in the lunar world (sorry!) in the luminary world. Some appear like a robot, others as cartoon characters, and still others a radically effective minimalist object. Created in 1958, lights are still very modern. For good reading light, Biny designed it with fins that direct the intense light onto the entirety of the useful area. For soft and surprisingly effective lighting, this developed reissue * uses integrated, removable LED technology in 2700 K with adjustable fins thanks to a wheel.
