Product description

Grey bricks have always intrigued architects to give a building that smooth design, yet radiating the typical warmth of ceramic bricks. Smothering is a relative new technique that gives bricks a special grey-blue tint. After firing, bricks are entered in a second firing kiln with a low-oxygen atmosphere. During a chemical reaction, the level of iron oxide in the bricks decreases, changing the base color to grey varieties. The final color depends highly of the base color of the bricks and the raw materials used to obtain it.
