The project is located on the ground of the alluvial cone of the Davaglione stream in Montagna,Valtellina, Italy. To the east of the plot there are the public street and the wall of the stream bank, to the south there is a private house built departing from the right distances from the border, so the quality view is completely obstructed on this side. The east front of the DMB house is hermetic, to preserve the owners privacy; there are few windows and the two parallel walls of the ramp to the basement create a barrier to the public carriageable road.An hollow into the volume of the house forms the access to the house, parallely to the main street.
The south front is completely without windows because of the presence of the building of poor quality on the border. To the north front there are targeted windows towards the landscape, the terraced vineyards. The volume of the house contains a little protected private garden. On the first floor, the bedroom area is simply organized; The two bedrooms of the daughters has aterrace protected by a great overhang of the roofing. The owners’ bedroom has a loggia which frame the landscape view.
The materials used in this project are concrete, iron, wood and stone; the concrete walls are cast on site with wood chips pressed Osb waxed formworks which create a texture similar to the handmade plaster of the ancient rural houses in Valtellina.Iron has been treated with ferromicaceous paint tobacco color which unify all the different parts, coatings, windows frames, curtains, handrails, gates and outdoor furniture.Only one window on the north front and two sliding windows to the west front are white painted, to remember the ancient frames and splays of the ancient rural houses.
