Located in the heart of the Milton-Park district, the Cinéma du Parc has been an institution for art-house cinema fans in Montreal since 1976. The design team enthusiastically collaborated with this organization to redefine the spaces of this legendary venue. The objective was to create a bold departure from the current layout, while respecting the singular aesthetic and soul of the original cinema. This joint creative approach gave rise to a concept inspired by the cinema's emblematic sets, sprinkled with subtle nods to enchant discerning cinephiles.
Right from the entrance, a play of dark textures, enhanced by theatrical lighting, guides the user into an immersive experience. On the ceiling, a technical grid, reminiscent of studio aesthetics, supports the scenographic lighting. Moving towards the box office, visitors discover a double-height wall, where backlit, animated boxes display works by internationally renowned visual artists, paying homage to the world of cinema.
Access to the rooms is via a majestic staircase, lined with burgundy curtains reminiscent of the great theaters. On the landing, a stage welcomes festival-goers and guests for private events, lit by vintage spotlights suspended from the ceiling. Opposite, a service counter, inspired by hotel receptions, offers refreshments, treats and a selection of beers and wines for an enhanced experience. Two lounges, located on either side of the counter, now invite visitors to take a convivial break in an immersive, playful scenography.
