Erected in the center of Chisasibi, the future 23,315 m² facility will serve nine communities in the Cree traditional territory — Eeyou Istchee.
Both a hospital and a community health center, the Eeyou Istchee Regional Health Centre will bring together several services organized in three major sectors to ensure the Miyupimaatisiiun (health and well-being) of the population it serves: hospital care (ambulatory activities, diagnostic and therapeutic services, hospitalization, clinical and administrative support); social services (Chisasibi Community Miyupimaatisiiun Center and dental care); as well as public and common spaces (pharmacy, reception, ceremonial room, catering services and cafeteria).
Inspired by cultural symbols and the surrounding natural landscape, this inviting and convivial space evokes the rich textures of Nordic vegetation through its materiality and coloring, contributing to its respectful integration into the site.
The well-being of users, their loved ones, caregivers and support staff is a central element of the project, which is also aiming for LEED v4 certification.
