Nature is the creation of value and identity, from well-being to biodiversity. The building develops around an oval courtyard and a tree-lined garden, the real beating heart of the campus. Light and air permeate the interior work and reception spaces, creating a three-dimensional spatial unicum. The campus is designed as an urban village, consisting of the garden court, plaza and streets, where functional cells gravitate to the open space built around the green court. This “void” becomes the stage for social, intellectual and productive functions, allowing flexible and adaptable configurations over time.
The shell, in an attempt to mediate between the nearby horizontal landscape of the Romagna countryside and the presence of large industrial volumes, is readable as a real “container”, defined by the succession of massive elements with a trapezoidal section that generate rhythm and shading on the entire perimeter of the ground floor. The first floor, on the other hand, has a coplanar facade where opaque surfaces alternate with transparent surfaces covered by a protective skin made with a metal mesh with specific functional characteristics and performance but which at the same time emphasizes the architectural gestures and gives character to the entire building.
The ecological benefits of the green roof complete the design of the “fifth facade”, an element of connection with the free space of the sky. These, together with the passive energy strategies adopted and the electricity supply provided by the photovoltaic sensors, guarantee the highest standard of comfort for the users of the property and a reduction to a minimum of energy consumption.
