The Simpatico Prototype Home is a two-story residence designed for a narrow lot in an established urban neighborhood. The home is to be the prototype home for a prefab homebuilding company and the full-time residence of the company's founder.
The house will showcase the potential and flexibility of the “semi-custom” modular Simpatico System. From the outset the home was designed to be prefabricated as a modular structure. This process allows for the site work to be executed concurrently with the factory fabrication, reducing both time and cost. The completed modular components are then shipped to the site and set on the foundation in a single day.
The passive solar design creates strong visual interest, harnesses tremendous natural daylighting and takes advantage of 360 degree panoramic views of San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley from the roof deck. This net zero energy home is seeking a LEED Platinum rating, the highest available.
