Located in the heart of Vienna, the New Work Base required a full suite of design and planning services to create a workspace that addresses the evolving needs of employees in today’s dynamic, post-COVID landscape. From the initial location search to contract negotiations, Team Sieber managed every aspect of the project, ensuring a seamless process throughout.
The project is housed in the iconic Schottentor building, a landmark known for its historical significance and prime location near Vienna’s bustling center. Originally built in the early 20th century, Schottentor has long been a symbol of the city’s architectural and cultural heritage. Over the years, it has served as a hub of activity, reflecting Vienna’s evolving urban landscape while maintaining its distinguished charm.
By integrating modern workspace design with Schottentor’s historic character, Sieber has created a unique environment that honours the building’s storied past while meeting the demands of contemporary work culture.
Key services provided during the project include:
· Location search and market analysis: Sieber conducted a thorough search for the ideal office space, supported by in-depth analysis of the local real estate market to match the client's requirements.
· Comprehensive office design and fit-out planning: The team developed and implemented a complete interior design concept, including lighting, acoustics, custom furnishings, and details.
· Furniture selection and development: Furniture was carefully selected and custom-developed to achieve an optimal balance between functionality and aesthetics.
· Design of wayfinding systems: A seamless guide and orientation system was developed to ensure ease of navigation and a strong sense of direction throughout the space.
· Relocation management: Sieber provided hands-on support during the relocation process, including managing defect elimination.
The resulting design prioritizes both productivity and employee well-being. Custom-designed planters are strategically placed between workstations in the open office area, offering break spaces that foster team camaraderie. Additionally, the plants improve indoor air quality and provide acoustic insulation, contributing to a calm, productive atmosphere. These planters are also integrated into the broader design concept, with their unique shapes reflected in the carpet patterns and ceiling design, creating a visually captivating and cohesive space that inspires creativity.
The New Work Base also features a series of mezzanine galleries that support various work styles. The "Recreate" gallery includes vintage arcade games and a large screen for employees to unwind, while "Ideate" offers writable surfaces and agile furniture to encourage collaboration and brainstorming. For those seeking a tranquil environment, the "Meditate" area provides a peaceful retreat with cozy sofas, plants, and a serene atmosphere ideal for relaxation or focused work.
While the Hybrid Work Model fosters communication and collaboration, the spatial planning also incorporates Retreat Rooms that offer oases of calm. The Room of Silence was designed as a tranquil space where employees can relax, de-stress, and recharge. Minimal furniture enhances openness, and carefully chosen colours create a soothing environment for quiet reflection.
The office also includes six distinct kitchenettes, each featuring a unique and vibrant colour palette that deviates from the brand’s signature colours. These colour schemes provide a refreshing visual break and promote well-being and creativity throughout the workspace.
With a reputation for delivering exceptional workspace solutions, Sieber continues to set new benchmarks in the industry, focusing on thoughtful, client-centred design and efficient project execution.
