The China Merchants Group from Hong Kong took the lead in establishing Shekou Industrial Zone in Shenzhen. They blasted the hilly terrain, reclaimed the sea to build ports, and attracted foreign investment, making it a pioneer in China's Reform and Opening-up. The A6 Villa is the most compact option in the Chilak Town development, offering 290 sqm of built space on an 850 sqm plot. Its design includes a distinctive architectural statement, featuring a concrete and glass box suspended within a larger box. The ground floor contains the living area, kitchen, and guest master bedroom, while the suspended box accommodates three additional bedrooms. The B2 Villa is a 350 sqm residence on a 1000 sqm plot in Chilak Town, designed to integrate nature and surroundings. Lush balconies and an expansive green roof create a perfect space for gatherings. The villa features four spacious bedrooms and living areas across two levels. “Olphert” - the project took inspiration from the existing mid-century dwelling. The features of the original 1950’s house were preserved and the new addition sought to emulate the style and glamour of the era in form and materiality.  Tom Ferguson Tom Ferguson Mid-century modern homes and hotels of Palm Springs were particularly influential over the style and atmosphere we wished to create by the project. The rich palette of materials and playful sense of form mimic this design period.
