Living with a sustainable appeal On the edge of Houtwijk, along the bustling Escamplaan, stands the Escampstaete. A beautiful blend of wood, light facade panels, and spacious balconies. The layered apartment building is one half of a twin block. The complex is oriented towards the sun, and each of the 12 apartments has its own small garden at the rear. In high class residential area, a large volume residence had to be constructed on a relatively small site. Next to a giant outdoor pool there was almost no space for a garden. So, the idea was to put the garden onto the roof and work close to the concept of a zero-seal house which means the sealed areas are given back to nature on the rooftop. The starting point for the design of this house was to fit a shape on a plot with a rather difficult trapezoidal contour, with a not very beneficial location in relation to the sides of the world - the entrance to the plot is located on the south side. One of the instructions from our investors was their dream of having an outdoor swimming pool, which is to be bathed in sunlight for most of the day to naturally heat the water. The project pertains to the renovation of a small family house in Toulouse. In the heritage-protected core of the municipality of Wald ZH, between the village centre, the railway station and the parish church, a building was constructed, the Rosenthal Health Centre, which unites the facilities of the Drei Tannen Foundation under one roof and anchors them in the village.
