Watershed

Watershed is an agent of change. As a Living Building Challenge Petal Certified project and one of a handful of buildings to meet the requirements of Seattle’s rigorous Living Building Pilot program, it celebrates a story of community water conservation, reclamation, and treatment through the design of the building and its public outdoor spaces.  Built Work Photography Built Work Photography Built Work Photography Verdant bioswales stepping down a hillside, a large cantilevered shed roof, a reactive glass facade perched over an engaging streetscape – these design decisions provide the framework for a regenerative, deep-green 72,000 GSF Class A+ office and retail project making a measurable impact on the neig... Pikes Peak Summit Visitor Center

THE PEAK Pikes Peak, the most visited of Colorado’s great mountains, has long claimed a powerful hold on the public imagination. Nearly a million people each year ascend to the summit, where they are rewarded with the view that inspired Katharine Lee Bates to write the lyrics of “America the Beautiful.” Even earlier, “Pikes Peak or Bust!” was the famous refrain of gold prospectors who sought their fortune in the rugged Western territory. For visitors today, the perspective from 14,115 feet still evokes the awe and optimism of a seemingly limitless vista across the continent. This is the breathtaking setting for the Pikes Peak Summit Visitor Center, the highest visitor center in the world. Designed to enhance t... Más

Madrona Passive House

Jabe Blumenthal knows numbers. After graduating from Yale with a degree in Applied Mathematics he joined a little-known software company in the early 80s, Microsoft, and co-designed a little program we now know today as Microsoft Excel.   Jabe also knows climate change. He has served on the board of Seattle-based Climate Solutions for over a decade, advocating for ‘practical and profitable solutions to global warming’ throughout the Pacific Northwest. He also knows a thing or two about the costs and benefits of climate-friendly construction. He served on the board of the Bullitt Foundation when that group planned and built its noted “living building,” the Bullitt Center.   So when Jabe and his family be... Más
