Birch Tree House is a thoughtful addition to an early-twentieth-century brick terrace house, located in the Maastricht suburb of Sint Pieter. This tiny little project has been a labour of love for me, which started when my client, Jasper, asked me to design a low-budget addition to their home. The real estate market in big cities like Paris is more and more tense. Rents shoot up whereas surface areas decrease. In this context, people are more and more obliged to live in small spaces. Especially for students or low incomes, studios from 10 to 15m² are becoming the norm. For architects, this new Type of living is challenging because it forces us to maximize the feeling of space and the quality of living. Some 10 kms away from Shimla, the project Hill House is banked on one of the peripheral roads of a compounded residential area, AIRA Homes. The place holds decades of memories for the family, now visited by them only as a summer retreat. In 2018, the mother and the daughter unanimously took up the challenge to renovate, with the intent of modifying the interiors to serve their current lifestyle. Una reforma de color y materia Fibras orientadas es un espacio interior de oficinas de Mendotel, una empresa de servicios de tecnología en Guayaquil, Ecuador. El principal objetivo del proyecto fue diseñar un espacio completamente flexible para las nuevas necesidades del cliente, por lo cual, el punto de partida de esta propuesta fue estudiar su posible ocupación. Se analizaron las dinámicas de trabajo, y se decidió por un lugar de Oficina y ventas con distintos niveles de privacidad. The Boreal house is located in a gated community in the north of Curitiba. The plot, seven meters wide and eighteen meters deep, has houses on the boundaries on both sides. The house was conceived for commercialization. The premise of the investors was to create a product with good external space and qualitative sunlight, in addition to fulfilling the basic program for a family of four. The identity of the project was inspired by the neighborhood and the history of its immigrants. Vrnda Pharma is a pharmaceutical company which deals with clients and vendors all over the world. When the clients approached our studio, to design their newly bought office space, their brief was simple. They wanted a cool and quirky new space, which does not take itself too seriously. Their staff includes young people in the age bracket of 22 to 35 and they did not want the office to have a formal, more serious ambience. With this brief they gave us a free hand to design the space albeit within a tight budget.
