Studio Ninetynine diseñó su nuevo espacio de oficinas, situado en un edificio de oficinas/almacenes existente (en transición) llamado "Mainstage". Tras una completa renovación y ampliación, también basada en la visión de diseño de Ninetynine, el edificio Mainstage albergará un gran grupo de empresas relacionadas con los eventos. You may not have heard of Ebenezer Howard, but visit our new multi-residential project in Port Melbourne and you can see his legacy come to life. In the 19th century, Howard drew up concepts for a ‘garden city’, urban pockets with plenty of green space clustered around the city centres to help evenly distribute density. With P.M. we’ve picked up where he left off, creating a 21st century garden city in resort form, which will anchor Port Melbourne’s future. Three buildings grace the landscaped grounds. The building´s architecture is a consequence of the surrounding context and its brief, which includes a new underground station, the public spaces to access the station and two parking areas. Located between two operating underground stations, the building process was determined by the aim of continuing with the train services during the works. The station is placed alongside the existing train rail, with a significant level change both sides of the track. To provide a single hall accessed from the parking areas at both levels in connection with the platforms at the lower level was a design principle. Podium. From a bland, underground white box we imagined this client's dream of somewhere to house his supercars and entertain friends. We transformed a standard garage with a few challenges into the show stopping - yet practical - man cave crammed with technology. In stark contrast to the light-filled rooms of the above house, we created a space that was built to create a jaw dropping moment that the owner never tires of. Descending the staircase to the 'garage' the change of material pace heightens your awareness as the 'room' realises your anticipated arrival.
