This project involves the renovation of a 120-year-old traditional wooden house in the Misumi region of Shimane Japan into an accommodation facility.The building, which looks out to sea and nestles up against a hill at the back of the house, was built as a detached house for the local landlord. From SinglePoint Design Build: “This project consisted of a full exterior removal and replacement of the siding, windows, doors, and roof.  In so, the Architects OXB Studio, re-imagined the look of the home by changing the siding materials, creating privacy for the clients at their front entry, and making the expansive decks more usable.  We added some beautiful cedar ceiling cladding on the interior as well as a full home solar with Tesla batteries. The Shou-sugi-ban siding is our favorite detail. This space is intended to be a pavilion for resting and community gatherings of both villagers and tourists. The village of Darak is 170 kilometers far from Chabahar. As you travel through this area of Iran, you reach a point where the sea surrounds the sand dunes of the desert, which has attracted visitors from all over the world. The topography of sand dunes in these areas adds spectacular attractions to this area. given this amazing sandy desert, our best design option is to be inspired by nature.   We designed this Project considering the traditional architecture of the region, which is affected by the abundant sunlight and high temperatures during the day. Situated in close proximity to existing drama, choir and music programs, Palo Alto High School’s Performing Arts Center creates new, flexible spaces—and new opportunities—for each.   Providing community gathering and meeting areas as well as performance space, the facility is fully equipped with the latest A/V technology, and can accommodate an entire grade group for orientations, lectures and assemblies.   The exterior elevation features traditional design elements, including covered porches and arcades.
