Arquitectura Film Festival Santiago
Ñuble 646-690, Santiago, Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile, Stgo, Chile
The second version of the Architecture Film Festival Santiago Chile and Latin America shows that they were waiting for an event of this nature. In 2012 we launched the festival with the idea of installing a new scenario to reflect on the city and urban life from the film, a platform that not only allows you to show the aesthetic character of the cities, but also provide historical records, current or projected future of life in urban environments, its underworld and its inhabitants. The nearly 1,700 spectators receive during 2012 in four days of audiovisual exhibitions, seminars, workshops and facilities, confirmed that every day more and more people are concerned about what happens in the cities. Also, the wide appeal that was our first competition of short films confirmed to us that we can be an incentive to the domestic and international films, documentaries and animations which have the character to the architecture and even the framework for thinking about new ways of how tell the city. Many of the works received interest and curiosity reflected capture micro urban spaces or identity of specific neighborhoods. Sometimes even stopped production in a character set in a particular environment. Thus, we find stories of what happens in a market, a plaza, the ruins of a building, or on the use given to urban spaces users who decided to occupy them differently than planned. Other films focused narration current issues such as transportation, pollution, or saturation of the cities. Many of these looks were rather poetic, other documentaries, but all showed how man's life fits, resists or reverses what the city offers. We hope to continue spreading the existing material related to the topic, help position Santiago as a Latin American cultural capital, increase every year the call for a widening public, increase programming schedule incorporation into the international circuit and adding cities country of the event. However, what is most satisfying is to feel that as we develop the festival invite citizens to a great feast of architecture, in which people experience the city in a unique way.
