MADE Expo 2013

Strada Statale Sempione, 192, 20017 Rho Milan, Italy, Rho, Italy
MADE expo is back with a stronger than ever focus on crucial issues such as urban renewal, land and infrastructure care and maintenance, earthquake prevention and energy savings. The fundamental fabric of the country will be touched on with a view to turning Italy around. All this and more will be on hand at the next MADE expo show, from 2 to 5 October at the Milan Fairgrounds Rho, marking a major change of direction in the pursuit of specialisation and garnering a wider international audience. MADE expo’s number one priority is to kick start the construction market. This is what Italy’s Prime Minister Enrico Letta had to say recently about the vital role of the building industry and the measures being adopted to boost this strategic industry, that for far too long has been plagued by uncertainty, late payments and an economic system entangled in red tape that is thwarting investments. The new Italian Minister for Infrastructure, Maurizio Lupi, has based his agenda on an integrated plan to create new construction jobs: His ministry’s priorities include speeding up public works that are either already in the pipeline or still on the drawing board, roll out a maintenance plan for school buildings, extend energy efficiency tax incentives to include earthquake prevention, and pass into law an existing agreement between the Italian Banking Association (ABI) and the Italian association of private construction contractors (ANCE) to boost home loan approvals and thus forge new ties between the construction industry and the banking sector. Steps in this direction have already emerged from MADE expo with a unique financial product offered to exhibitors by leading Italian banking group UniCredit. More specifically, the availability of bonuses for energy savings and restructurings, besides drawing attention to the dramatic problem of safety, represents an excellent opportunity to plan and implement long-awaited real estate refurbishments and breathe new life into the domestic market, leveraging not only direct government subsidies but also bonuses and tax relief to encourage investments. “MADE expo is the ideal platform for bringing together the construction industry to discuss its priorities and put forward proposals and solutions. The specific characteristics of each segment and its contribution to the system as a whole need to be understood and valued, states Giovanni De Ponti, CEO of MADE expo. According to ANCE data, since the beginning of the global financial crisis Italy has lost 550 thousand construction jobs across the industry. There is therefore a dire need to react and give companies the support they need to invest in quality, innovation and renewal. Companies choose MADE expo to look beyond the horizon and become leading players in a leading international event.”
