Since its inception, Munich Creative Business Week (MCBW), the largest design event held in Germany for designers and contractors, has become one of the main attractions for top international designers, architects, creative people, business and economic sector representatives and all those who have a general interest in design. The reason: MCBW clearly is aimed at sensitizing people for design and its relevance to society, culture and the economy. With its special focus on the issue of sustainability, MCBW keeps its finger on the pulse. For nine exciting days in 2013, Munich became a “Capital of Design” and attracted more than 37,000 visitors who wanted to learn more about the 126 partners, 202 events and 56 Creative Spots that were included in MCBW 2013. Become a Partner in MCBW 2014 and benefit from last year’s overwhelming success. Themes Society, technologies and brands are the drivers of modern design. With a focus on sustainability, the MCBW program will take a clear position on each of these themes. CONNECTED TO CULTURE DESIGN CULTURE AND SOCIETY Design and architecture play a large part in the evolution of our society and take a stand on the pressing questions of our times – be it in relation to demographic developments, increasing internationalization, the requirements of mobility, or our changing living and working environments. At MCBW you will learn more about the products and services that can enhance our everyday lives today and the interesting concepts being developed to meet future challenges. Examples: user-orientation in design and architecture, universal design, concepts for mobility, intercultural design, design and crafts, creative networks. CONNECTED TO TECHNOLOGY DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY Innovative technology requires innovative design – it is only from this combination that coherent products can evolve. For this reason, design must interact with research and science across disciplines to bring about the best possible results in the development of products and services. At MCBW, you will learn that the design of tomorrow goes hand in hand with cutting-edge technology. Examples: new materials, smart materials, construction and engineering, color, lighting technology, animation, media design CONNECTED TO BRANDS DESIGN AND BRANDS Brands are designed to inspire customers and establish connections between them and the branded products. Designers, in turn, give brands their own individualized faces. As with all other disciplines, design must be user-oriented and in line with the users’ needs.
