The World Architecture Festival is an annual festival and awards ceremony for the architecture industry. The first festival was arranged in Barcelona in 2008 and the 2013 Festival is to be held in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands. At the festivals around 200 shortlisted projects compete for awards in 20-30 categories. Among these projects are chosen one which is awarded World building of the Year. All the entries are published in World Buildings Directory online database and each year the World Architecture Festival publishes a list of the winners of the awards.
More than 1,600 architects from 60 different countries are expected to attend the World Architecture Festival. More than 300 projects from 50 countries made the official 2013 shortlist. There are 29 categories in the competition. The festival’s organiser’s are i2i Events Group. World Architecture Festival is the largest annual festival and live awards programme for the global architecture community. This year’s super jury includes Ken Yeang, Patrick Bellew, Jeanne Gang, Dietmar Eberle and Ken Tadashi Oshima.
