Coppia brings aesthetic sensitivity and curated experiences to Chicago’s thriving West Loop, connecting neighborhoods in a way that feels magnetic, peaceful, and alive.
Overview
Overlooking the heart of Chicago’s West Loop, Coppia is a warm, welcoming, mixed-use tower with a 298-unit residential community. Named for the Italian word for “couple,” referencing the building’s position embracing multiple neighborhoods and its exterior geometry, Coppia represents developer Pizzuti’s values through an immersion of creativity, blending inspiring architecture and design with a curated collection of original artwork.
Goettsch Partners led the architectural design of the building, defining a contemporary residence with a dynamic expression.
Gensler led the high-end, hospitality-driven interior design concept spanning the residences, communal spaces, and an abundant, best-in-class amenities program. Distinct from the predominant warehouse aesthetic in Fulton Market, Coppia is marked by its intimate, refined design moments, and its focus on gathering spaces and comfortable luxury.
Design Details
Anchoring the new south end of Aberdeen Street, the building is oriented in an east-west direction, with its main entry facing north toward the heart of the West Loop. The design features a clean, patterned façade on the north and south elevations that separates the tower volumetrically into two interlocking geometries, divided by a stepped, interstitial recess in contrasting glass. The main amenity level on the 4th floor sits above the retail and parking podium with expansive southern light and outdoor space.
Coppia’s bespoke interiors are visible from a distance, with Rana Begum’s colorful cloud sculpture engaging the active neighborhood from the interior. At the entrance, hand-cut, marble block terrazzo flooring and a mirrored ceiling create a dynamic path towards a wood tambour wall and reception desk. The lobby interiors enhance the experience of art in the space, highlighting the hand-selected pieces with elegant architectural gestures, modern finishes, and pops of pattern.
Program Details
Coppia’s elevated amenities program is designed to extend tenants’ living spaces, offering additional places to work, socialize, exercise, and unwind. Just past the leasing office, a large co-working area provides a variety of seating options for solo or collaborative work with streetscape views. Also on the first floor, a hidden game room and bar area continues the palette of natural materials with more exaggerated finishes and moments of saturated color. Additional amenities conveniently located on the ground level include a bike room, on-site dog park, and a spacious self-service dog spa room.
On the 4th floor, tenants can enjoy amenities and expansive skyline views throughout the seasons. A terrace borders the interior spaces, acting as a corridor that leads to an expansive sun deck with a resort-style swimming pool and outdoor dining area that celebrates al fresco leisure. Inside, a tv lounge and kitchen echo the residential experience of a large, single-family home, with soft seating and all the conveniences needed to host a group of friends for a casual gathering or a special event. Design elements throughout the amenities floor respond to the building’s architecture, including an extra-long serpentine sofa and tables built around structural columns.
Coppia residences include studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments with luxury units on the top two levels. Modern, high-end finishes and floor-to-ceiling glass windows create a bright, inviting atmosphere for living. Immersed in Chicago’s West Loop and surrounded by artwork and amenities, Coppia is urban living at its best.
