Gotham Point is a million-square-foot development on the waterfront of the Hunter’s Point South neighborhood in Queens. This project marks one of the last major developments in transforming this Long Island City area from an industrial site into a vibrant mixed-use community. To date, improvements have included new infrastructure, a waterfront park, a school, and thousands of residenc
The development comprises a 58-story and a 34-story tower separated by a school, designed to complement the diverse architectural landscape of the Queens waterfront. The taller tower features varying heights and glass reveals, creating a dynamic vertical rhythm, while the smaller tower has a rectilinear form with reveals cut into its massing. The rooftop terrace on the Manhattan-facing side provides residents with communal space.
The project includes over a thousand units, 75% of which (849 units) are designated affordable. Residential amenities include a fitness center, a variety of outdoor areas, lounges, and co-working spaces. Nearly 100 units have been set aside specifically for seniors, all of which are affordable. The senior units have their own dedicated amenities, including lounge, library, community space, and outdoor patio.
The buildings embrace the park and river with indoor/outdoor spaces that blend into the landscaping, drawing inspiration from natural elements. The towers’ bases open to retail and community spaces, promoting resident interaction. Community facilities include an arts non-profit and a kayak rental facility. A rooftop urban farm is publicly accessible.
Inspired by the adjacent Hunter's Point South Park and the East River beyond, the interior design approach was guided by an effort to integrate the space with its natural surroundings. Floor to ceiling glass invites the exterior greenspace inside, while numerous indoor/outdoor spaces spill into the landscaping. Drawing from this unique location, interiors are characterized by organic, undulating forms, natural textures, and curving lines.
Above, units continue the building's elemental palette, with kitchens defined by wood cabinetry and stone backsplashes.
Apartments are framed by dramatic views of the river and Manhattan beyond. By offering 75% of its 1,132 units as affordable housing, Gotham Point ensures that this prime location remains accessible to long-time residents of the neighborhood, maintaining the borough's vibrant, diverse character and democratizing access to waterfront living.
