Typeroom is a work/retail space for the typographers and graphic designers, Parachute, sitting inside an old Athenian building in the center of the city.
Our main aim was to showcase and celebrate the company’s energy, values and ethos so we kept the shell as clean as possible and used the complex array of creative projects that the company undertakes to populate and animate the space.
The envelope has been painted white, as a neutral background to the activity, and a system of metal scaffolding frames, marble slabs and wooden boxes echoes the urban location of the building and nods at the elegance and sophistication of its inhabitant. This crafted shelving system acts as an open display archive, presenting the work and creations of Parachute to inspire and invite intrigued staff and visitors to explore further.
The front of the space is open and flexible and can be used to host lectures and other events organized by the company, whilst the back part of the space is more efficiently organized into office space and workshops, slightly more private but still benefiting from the cross-pollination effect of an open-plan office.
