When we were enlisted for this co-op renovation on the Upper West Side, the dated pre-war space needed some work. The family recently purchased the Manhattan home near Broadway with the intention of reinvigorating the spacious property without losing the historic character. With a speciality in pre-war renovations in NYC, we were happily up for the challenge.
TIMELESS DESIGN
After hearing the client’s objective, we designed a classically-inspired interior that paired together timeless elements like the herringbone floors throughout, Carrera marble bathrooms, and sleek shaker cabinetry to meet the apartment’s core historic aesthetic from a modern perspective. We renovated the entire apartment, while fully gutting the kitchen and both bathrooms.
BATHROOM EXPANSION
Beyond the design face-lift, we also provided practical improvements to the co-op, by converting the half-bathroom/powder room in the back office into a second full bathroom - a rarity in NYC apartments and immediate lifestyle upgrade for any growing family. Additionally, we replaced the bathtub In the main bathroom with a walk-in shower, while also changing the orientation of the space.
ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Removed old cloth wiring (a common surprise in old pre-war renovations) and rewired entire apartment- Lightly sanded and refreshed all walls and restored existing mouldings, then painted - Custom millwork in the living room and office
