Hayama Apartment

The 55 years old apartment is located in the beach town of Hayama, on the southeast of the ever-popular tourist area of Kamakura on the Miura Peninsula. Akira Nakamura The owners contacted us with the request of transforming the space into a bright and easy to take care of home. The apartment building in which it is located, with big windows facing a large garden, had plenty of potential to fulfill their desire. na•ro / a modern retreat in a Japanese garden

On a small island in the Japanese archipelago iraisynn attinom studio designed a modern retreat. Basically the building is two cantilevers following the lines of the landscape, made by concrete, emerged from the ground, projected from the rocky mountain and facing towards the ocean. The design follows some of the modern Japanese architecture principles such as the simplicity, functionalism, straightforward expression of materials and construction, geometric composition devoid of superficial ornamentation, standardization of parts, unity of house and garden. RJ Nursery in Okayama takes lessons from the neighboring traditional temple

In Okayama, Japan, the RJ Nusery by HIBONOSEKKEI takes advantage of its location next to a traditional temple to cultivate the historic link local people and children have with the landmark – not only for praying, but also for shopping, taking a walk, and socializing.   Toshinari Soga, Studio Bauhaus In developing their concept, the architects drew from the work ‘Manabu’, which means ‘Learn’ in English and is derived from the word “Maneru,’ which mins ‘Intimate.’ These words reflect how children learn and gain social skills – by imitating the actions of adults they see in their daily lives.  Toshinari Soga, Studio Bauhaus Here, the project’s play...
