FARBY APARTMENT

MAKHNO Studio come Architetti

FARBY APARTMENT is a two-storey family nest in the center of Kyiv that combines different styles, aesthetic trends and shades of art.

CHALLENGE

The clients dreamed of settling in a space that, on the one hand, would be calibrated and “adult”, and on the other hand, would have some eccentricity, a childlike openness to miracles and wonders. We wanted it to intertwine different styles. Well, we thought, our art will solve this problem perfectly.

The apartment has two floors:

• on the ground floor – space for guests: living room-kitchen and guest bedroom;

• on the second floor there is a master bedroom with a terrace and a children’s room.

ECLECTIC LIVING ROOM

It is a mix of several areas, several styles and several colors:

• the kitchen area is full of warm, dark shades and complex, multifaceted patterns - from our signature 3D SKELJA tiles on the wall to the exclusive MAKHNO lamps made especially for this project above the kitchen island. And this is an exceptional case when extravagance becomes cozy;

• the dining area is also “chocolate”, and the extraordinary THE POLAR NIGHT lamp is responsible for the magic here;

• the recreation area is greeted by a luxurious Baxter sofa, next to which there is a visual anchor of this room - a two-meter high KHMARA FLOOR floor lamp. The walls of this part of the room are decorated with walnut veneer. Everything together refers to the Scandinavian design with its warmth and naturalness. And here is the beautiful DIDO CHUB - the art sculpture-totem of this house.

• the staircase to the second floor is made of glass and metal, a hint of minimalism. By the way, the ceiling and walls here are decorated with clay artistic plaster, and the floor is wooden.

• the picture is complemented by an equally non-trivial dressing room decorated with inventive patterns of volumetric URII art tiles.

This is a really warm space, not only because of the “warm” wood and clay, but also because of the extraordinary amount of sun through the panoramic windows. That's why we had to compensate for the excessive light in the room with dark shades.

COLORFUL GUEST BEDROOM

This bedroom immediately immerses guests in an artistic atmosphere. The artistic copper plaster on the front wall, paintings on the other walls, and VOLCANO craft ceramic lamps by MAKHNO on both sides of the bed are all at work. This is a space that can not only calm you down, but also excite your imagination.

CRAFT DRESSING ROOM

The minimalist space behind the guest bedroom door is characterized by handmade black ceramic sinks. One-piece multi-liter clay tanks with natural curves are a successful experiment of our ceramists.

CONTRASTING STAIRCASE

The black color of the metal and glass staircase and the plaster walls of the corridor with extraordinary dark gray paintings by a contemporary Ukrainian artist contrasts whimsically with the light wooden floor and white ceiling, like the sky in the afternoon. And most importantly, with the energy-saving lighting that is always on.

MINIMALIST BEDROOM

This master bedroom is a perfect example of minimalism: “It has a bare ceiling, panoramic windows instead of walls, and a huge, about 10 m², full-floor leather bed. So if we talk about the bedroom in the context of art, it is the ultimate limit of pure form, the “white square” of modern design.

By the way, the white theme continues in the elements of the dressing room next door. But here, a warm wooden background is added. That is, veneer on the walls and floor.

ART KIDS' ROOM

The most amazing room of this interesting house. Its inhabitant is a boy who is fond of space, so we designed and produced special “space” wallpaper so that the kid could travel through the galaxies without even getting out of bed.

The KHMARA asteroid lamp with a custom “space” finish and the WHEAT art tile add artistic flair to the space, with its glare creating almost intergalactic rays.

This tile also covers the walls of the children's bathroom. The bathtub itself, in the bizarre tradition of this house, is simply built into a case made of waterproof materials. And above it are the most amazing lamps from the entire MAKHNO collection - the fantastic MEDUSA series. They resemble oceanic or even space jellyfish.

FARBY APARTMENT is a unique project that seems to be hanging in quantum uncertainty. It is both a serious, high-quality, functional design and a whimsical and playful art space at the same time. Real art is never unambiguous. So this time it all depends on the observer.
