Complete transformation of an old office into a 2-bedroom apartment with 2 ensuite bedrooms. Reduction of the total number of rooms in order to increase the area of all the compartments, which compose it.

From the original construction, the former office only kept a bathroom and an unrecognizable kitchen where only the chimney was preserved.
The intervention strategy involved profound changes in the layout of the apartment by introducing significant changes in the distribution of the spaces in accordance with the concept of use.

In addition to the design of 2 ensuite bedrooms, the dining room now occupies the former kitchen's space which, in turn, was transformed into a kitchenette and placed in an existing and adjoining bedroom. This change allowed to expand and to join the food preparation area with the dining room where the family gets together for meals.

In the kitchen, the focus goes to the handmade tile in a dark-green colour that covers the backsplash, giving a touch of elegance and distinction to one of the most requested places in a home.

It was also thought the advantage of having a single volume in the centre of the apartment which comprised a pantry, some kitchen appliances, a small bookshelf, a guest toilet, and a large closet in the bedrooms' access area. On the other hand, the closet was lacquered in glossy black to strongly contrast with the white colour of the surrounding walls.

Since the apartment has large prominent beams, inherent from the original construction, these structures were concealed by designing squared pyramid ceilings ending in lightboxes that nobly light the apartment and the unusual decoration.

The carpentry has here a major role and so it was designed in detail and according to the inhabitants’ specific needs in simplifying their hectic daily routine.
Although the original entrance was restored, the service entrance was kept.

The project brought an integrated and expressive environment with an entirely contemporary look characterized by functional and optimized spaces which offer a better fluidity in its daily use.
