Acoustic interiors

In 2015, ARM was given the enormous responsibility and privilege of upgrading the iconic building’s Concert Hall. The project called for modifications that were sensitive and respectful of the heritage building, whilst elevating the acoustics to a world-class standard. Our overarching aim was to upgrade the Concert Hall interior and acoustics to match the brilliance of Jorn Utzon’s exterior and Peter Hall’s interior. The Client is a well-renowned doctor of Gujarat and reflecting the family’s lifestyle, their brief was for a “minimal, warm, clutter-free and a well-lit home. Thus, they approached us with the expectation of designing their house adorned with quiet and soothing interiors that calm the mind of the user. The Empire Riverside Hotel and the “Brauhaus”, an office and business complex, is located in the centre of Hamburg on industrial land formerly occupied by the Bavaria brewery. The buildings lie between two widely divergent areas of the city: to the east are striking townhouses, commercial buildings and banks, and to the north and west, provincial St Pauli with its preponderance of four- and five-storey buildings built in the 19th century.
