Transparence Minimalism in a Retro Sense Studio Samuelov has been designing Klil’s showrooms for many years. In 2020 an updated was needed to fit to the new Bauhaus series, and the story we have chosen in the showroom design showcase the style’s values: precise minimalism, functionality and a retro sense. Inaugurated in 2002 by businessman Juan Rosa, originally from Lanzarote, 7 Islas Hotel was opened with the purpose of being a home away from home for all those Canaries visiting Madrid. In 2012 Juan Rosa’s granddaughters, Mónica, Kira and Luz take the baton of the hotel and convert it, without losing its essence, in the current 7 Islands Hotel, a space that combines art, design and gastronomy in an excellent way. This modern flat roof villa, designed for a family of four in Pfaffenhofen, Germany, was awarded the first prize in the competition "House of the Year", organized by Europe's biggest living magazine "Schöner Wohnen". With its formal references to the “Bauhaus”, the L-shaped building impresses by its large glass fronts, through which light and air gain access inside. This impressed the jury as well as "the modern interpretation of the wood panel construction, whose weather-independent, accurate and fast prefabrication of quality is not to beat." This complex and fascinating puzzle of different cubes evolves on a sloping clearing in the forest near Frankfurt, Germany. The basic idea of the design uses the sightlines of two old trees standing on the property and benefits, apart from the general views of the surrounding nature, also from the skyline of Frankfurt. Along these lines of sight, cubes of different proportion are piled up around the central core of the staircase. With a height of nine metres throughout the entire building, this “heart of the house” serves as an exhibition space for the client’s alternating artwork, exposed through a skylight. Real estate developer Carmel Partners awarded Surfacedesign creative control of the outside living spaces at its luxury apartment project Atelier, designed by architecture firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz.  Taking inspiration from the building’s proximity to the former Los Angeles Garment District, Surfacedesign’s overall approach was influenced by the Bauhaus textile patterns of Anni Albers.  Geometrical lines and shapes are repeated throughout the 33-story project’s two outdoor living spaces: pool/amenity deck and rooftop lounge.  Surfacedesign injected the textile inspiration into the composition, stitching together the hardscape with a rich landscape of native and Mediterranean plantings.   Atelier&rsq...
