A small compact 1600sft, 3bedroom flat was to be designed to cater the needs and aesthetics for three generations and three couples living in. The challenge was to incorporate the exhaustive and diverse functional requirements with coherent aesthetic details. Aurora Melbourne Central is a new metropolis, an integrated mixed use precinct with an alluring and seductive yet technologically advanced form. The proposed building has a rich fusion of Malay culture and Melbourne eccentricity, reflecting Melbourne’s position as a primary international south East Asian city. In this way we can create a metropolis that doesn’t have to be hard and gritty but rather has an organic softness.The hybrid form and plan of the tower is drawn from the hibiscus flower, a species constantly reproduced in Malaysia to create new, exciting colours and textures. Adelaide may be known for churches, wine, and the Crows, but a lofty city skyline is definitely not one of the recognisable features of this mini-metropolis. Elenberg Fraser is here to change all that with our new mixed-use building on Austin Street in Adelaide’s CBD. This 40 storey tower is set to puncture the stratosphere of Adelaide’s built environment; its 132 metre height making it the tallest residential building in the city. You may not have heard of Ebenezer Howard, but visit our new multi-residential project in Port Melbourne and you can see his legacy come to life. In the 19th century, Howard drew up concepts for a ‘garden city’, urban pockets with plenty of green space clustered around the city centres to help evenly distribute density. With P.M. we’ve picked up where he left off, creating a 21st century garden city in resort form, which will anchor Port Melbourne’s future. Three buildings grace the landscaped grounds. The P.M. building is the tallest of all three, a slender, sculptural structure with wrap around flesh glazing covered in white lace. Located in the heart of South Yarra, Rockley Gardens navigates nature and the built environment. Sitting adjacent to parklands, Rockley Gardens enters a dialogue with the lush landscape next door, becoming part of the building itself. The park-facing facade turns the garden into a vertical plane. A series of angled mirrors set above and beneath planter boxes reinforces the vegetation, reflecting the park beyond to play with relativity, perception and position. An infinite image of green space encircles the architecture. Reflective glazing offers privacy to residents while binding Rockley Gardens’ parklands and building as one. Papersmith is a building of transformation. Transformation of the industrial heritage, transformation of the Yarra River riparian landscape and transformation of materials. The building is robust and confident. The directness of the former industrial structures is expressed in concrete frame of the lower levels. Contrasting high-performing low emissivity double glazing inset into the concrete structure frames the outlook for the occupants while seamlessly balancing acoustic, solar and privacy requirements. Caption I nostri clienti per questo progetto erano una famiglia intenta a rimanere in stretto contatto anche mentre si trasferiva in una casa notevolmente più grande.
