‘Earl by Kai Stania’ is a high, loose-standing armchair with an organic shape, a nod to classical designs. It is made from very dynamic curves, which give the piece a very sculptural effect. As well as the sculptural side, the aim from the start was to offer a massively high level of comfort, a factor that just made the task even more difficult. The development and prototypes of Earl called for an exceptional amount of energy, but the end result is a statement of an armchair. At Durlet, it is in the same iconic tradition as Big Oma by Axel Enthoven, and we are now very proud of it. There is a choice between two bases: 4 conical wooden feet, or a metal folded tube which provides slight springiness for the armchair and offers even greater comfort.
