Our natural materials that bring sophisticated beauty and grace, into the huge interior spaces, such as hotels, restaurants, museums and public facilities. The material is a woven fabric called Shikada-Woven, that are based on precision cut bamboo. The diameter of each bamboo baguette is 1.5 mm. We use 25,000 bamboo baguettes to weave a fabric of 40 meters length and 2400 mm width maximum. Suspending it from the ceiling like waves, bending it like aurora and twisting it like DNA, our fabric gives a dynamic, vivid, supple and natural impression.
The manufacturing method of these fabrics are based on that of japanese traditional blind called Sudare. We, Shikada Sangyo Inc, has produced Sudare since 1912.
We exhibit Shikada-Woven as compact as possible at A@W. They are still unknown as primary fabric in Italia. This is our first exhibition in Italia.
We aim for the commercial and public use in Italia and in Europe. So we are now testing flameproof capabilities (Euroclass) of our new fabrics. We will release the result of judge for the first time all over the world at A@W in Milan.
